LIA Philippines

Love In Action is proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of compassion in the Philippines.
Love In Action is working with a family of churches called Shiloh Bible Baptist Church and other Christian indigenous missionaries. We help by financially sponosring indigenous pastors and missionaries and by providing Bibles, Christian tracts, feeding hungry children, purchasing property to build churches, and helping to build those churches. We are also working with indigenous missionaries to reach people who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope to soon provide medicines to help with medical needs, especially for the poor and needy children.
If you are interested in helping us in the Philippines, when you donate finances, please note that it is for the Philippines.

500 saved in the Philippines

Love In Action Pastor Ken Tuck preaches during an evangelistic outreach in Molave,
Philippines, where 122 people decided to follow Jesus.

The Love In Action mission trip to the Philippines can be summed up in one word - Awesome! God did so many amazing things in the 10 days we were on the island of Mindanao. Knowing that more than 500 people decided to follow Jesus was the greatest result of the trip. Nothing is more important than a soul being saved. Seeing Muslims come to Christ was powerful. God is doing a great work there among the Muslims. Many are coming to Christ despite all of the consequences they face. The great thing is they are telling others, because like the first apostles and disciples, they can't be quiet about what they have heard and seen. We saw fruit that remained from last year's trip. Disciples are being made, and they are making other disciples. In Molave, 122 people accepted Jesus and then begged us to teach them more of God's Word. A number of new home Bible studies have been started there to meet the needs. Ministering to 300 children who live under the Sindangan Bridge was an experience we will never forget. Children living in such poverty, yet smiling and laughing all day because of the love of Jesus. Preaching to prisoners in a jail in Ozamiz City was powerful as well. LIA Pastor/President Ken Tuck also preached at three school commencements. He preached 25 times total.
We hosted the second annual LIA Philippines Pastors/Missionary Workers conference in Sindangan, and the number of pastors increased to 40. With their wives and missionary workers, the attendance was 100. And, at the end of the conference, two young men committed to becoming pastors. Once trained, they will be sent out into the mission field. Praise God! Another great thing that happened at the conference is the boxes we shipped back in January arrived one day before the conference started. Therefore, we were able to hand out Bibles, reading glasses and backpacks to all of the pastors. We didn't have enough backpacks for everyone, but everybody received Bibles and glasses. The Bibles we shipped to Aloran also arrived. They had been praying for more than a year for Bibles. It was wonderful seeing how thankful everyone was for their Bibles, glasses and other supplies. We were also able to purchase groceries for each pastor to take home. That's important as they are very poor and often don't have money to purchase groceries. The children left with clothes and toys as we also packed those into the boxes that arrived in time for the conference.
God did so many awesome things, and we know greater things are yet to come for His glory. Thank you for all of your prayers, and to those who donated the Bibles and other supplies we shipped back in January, thank you! What a blessing all of you are. God bless you.

We have the land!

Love In Action recently had the opportunity to purchase land on a Philippine island where there are no Christian churches, only Muslim mosques; a chance to build the very first Christian church. We asked for help, and people responded. Earlier this past week the land was secured and it is pictured above. Praise God! Thank you, thank you, thank you. This be will where a church will be built, and it will serve as home base to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout that island.
We have more opportunities to plant churches in the Philippines and soon in Myanmar and Haiti. We are going to start a church plant account. As people give for planting churches, we will use it specifically for that purpose. It would be nice to have the money already when opportunities arise, so we can go ahead and plant the church. If you would like to give to planting churches in the Philippines, Myanmar and Haiti, when you write a check, make it out to Love In Action and in the note put "Church Plant." You can mail your church plant donation to: Love In Action, PO Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. Or, click here and give online. Thank you again. Because of your giving, thousands of people who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus will have that opportunity now and become followers of Jesus Christ. Thank you for joining us in carrying out the Great Commission, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20/

In need of more Bibles for Philippines

LIA President Ken Tuck packs a Balikbayan box filled with KJV Bibles
and toys and children's clothes for the Philippines. We can use more
KJV Bibles and new or still in good condition toys and children's clothes.

Imagine not having a Bible, and not having any way to get one. That's how it is for our Christian brothers and sisters in the Philippines. We have shipped thousands of Bibles to the Philippines, and we need to continue sending them. If you have any King James Version Bibles you can donate, please do. Or, you can find good deals on KJV Bibles at websites like biblicadirect.com, christianbook.com, or if you live in Dothan, Ala., you can purchase KJV Bibles at Lifeway Christian Bookstore and tell them they are for Love In Action, and they will box them for us and let us know Bibles are waiting for us to pick up. If you order online, you can have them shipped to: Love In Action International Ministries, 279 W. Main St., Ste. 2, Dothan, AL 36301. We need KJV Bibles only, and if you can donate large or giant print KJV Bibles that would be even better.

Sharing Jesus through education

Children sing "Jesus Loves Me" at the Obadiah Learning and Development Academy in Punta.

The new Obadiah Learning and Development Academy in Punta is completed.

A project for Love In Action this summer was building a school for our friends at Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Punta, Philippines. They had the labor and know-how, but no resources. We put the word out and the good people in Dothan, Ala., and other places in the US responded. Now, there is a new school building for the Obadiah Learning and Development Academy. Praise God!
This school provides quality education for indigent children who otherwise would not receive an education. The Philippines is not like the US Education is not provided for everyone. There, if families don't have the money to send their children to school, then there is no formal education for those children.
But, as with everything LIA does and our friends in the Philippines do, everything we do is to lead people to Jesus Christ. That's exactly what our friends in Punta do with the Obadiah Academy. When parents accept scholarships to the Academy, they have to attend church services each Sunday and allow members of the church to come to their homes every week for Bible study. Entire families come to Christ during the school year. It's an awesome ministry.

Reaching children, families under bridges

Love In Action helps our friends at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sindangan, Philippines, reach out to very poor children in Sindangan, Philippines. In the slide show above, you will see Pastor Greg and others with Shiloh Baptist serving food to and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the children who live under the bridge in Sindangan with their families.
Your financial support of LIA Philippines helps us provide food to these precious children and teach them about Jesus.

Feeding poor children in Sindangan

Each month Love In Action International Ministries provides food for impoverished children in Sindangan, Philippines. These children are extremely poor and in need of food. Many are on the brink of malnutrition. Thanks to our pastor and friend in Sindangan, Greg Begafria, we are able to help meet this need. Pastor Greg and his church, Shiloh Bible Baptist Church, do great work reaching the indigent children in Sindangan. Please click here for more about this wonderful outreach.

Bible drive for Philippines

So far this year, Love In Action has sent more than 2,000 Bibles to the Philippines. We praise God for that, because those Bibles have gone to precious people who didn’t have Bibles and others whose Bibles were worn out. Many of those Bibles have gone to new Christians, some to people who had never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ before.
We need King James Version and New King James Version Bibles.
If you live in or near Dothan, Ala., you can purchase KJV and NKJV Bibles at Lifeway Christian Bookstore and tell them they are for Love In Action and they will put them in a box for us and we will come pick them up. You may also purchase the Bibles online and have them shipped to: Love In Action International Ministries, 279 W. Main St., Suite 2, Dothan, AL 36301. Or, if you would like to donate money to purchase Bibles or help with the shipping costs, mail your donation to: Love In Action International Ministries, P.O. Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. Note that the donation is for this cause.

School in Punta can be completed

Construction is well underway on the new school building at Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Punta, Philippines.

Love In Action has been helping to build a school building for the Obadiah Learning and Development School for Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Punta, Philippines. This week we received the remaining amount of money to complete construction. Praise God! This school is used mightily for the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As they provide a great education for the children, they also teach them about Jesus. As parents of the indigent children they reach out to accept scholarships to the school, they agree to host a weekly Bible study. Through this outreach, children and their families are reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Decisions for Christ are made almost daily through this ministry, and the people are baptized right away. Bro. Joel and has wife Sis. Leah run this amazing ministry. Needless to say, they are very excited about the donations so they can complete the building, which cost $5,000 total to build.

23 house churches planted so far

Pastor Jun Begafria preaching to a newly reached area on the island of Mindanao, Philippines.

To God be the glory, Love In Action has helped plant 23 house churches so far in the Philippines. The majority of the churches, 16, have been planted in areas where there are only Muslims. These new saints are excited to hear about Jesus for the first time. They are telling others and the churches are growing. Dangerous? Yes. Worth it? Yes, every soul needs a chance to be saved. Everyone needs to hear about Jesus. Always remember His Great Commission, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20 (HCSB)

Great opportunities to spread the Gospel

People in previously enriched areas of the Philippines are coming to Jesus.

Love In Action is helping to build a school in Punta, Philippines. Schools like this one provide outstanding education opportunities to children. Churches also use their schools for evangelism to reach the students and their families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God has opened so many doors of opportunity in the Philippines. So far this year, Love In Action has started sponsoring seven indigenous pastors ($100/month); planted three house churches in a previously unreached Muslim area; built a parsonage for a pastor and his family; purchased lots for two churches; constructed a building for a church to hold Sunday school and other meetings; reached thousands of previously unreached people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ; shipped more than 2,000 Bibles, hundreds of discipleship books and clothes for very poor children; and fed hundreds of under-nourished and malnourished children. There are many needs, and with more finances we could do a lot more for the glory of God.

More Bibles shipped to the Philippines

James and Martha tape up a Balikbayan box to ship to the Philippines.

Five Balikbayan boxes filled ready to be shipped to the Philippines.

Part of Love In Action's support for the Philippines is providing Bibles and discipleship material for our Christian brothers and sisters as these items are not available there. We shipped more than 900 Bibles back in March and all of the boxes arrived in late May. The response from our friends has been great as they are very thankful. We have just shipped five more boxes filled with more than 400 KJV Bibles and hundreds of copies of Harvest Church Pastor Ralph Sigler's Discipleship Phase I books. Other items included clothes and toys for the children. Please click here more information about these shipments and read how one Filipino mother describes the blessing of her "fatherless children" being provided with clothes, and how excited she was to receive a new KJV Bible.

LIA Pastors' Prayer Vigil/Fellowship

Pastors gathered on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, for the monthly LIA Philippines Pastors' Prayer Vigil and Fellowship. In the photo to the right, Pastor Sardan Ragonio holds the phone to a microphone as LIA President/Pastor Ken Tuck shares an encouraging message with the pastors over the phone.

LIA Philippines continues to grow as 25 indigenous pastors and missionaries gathered in Sindangan on April 24, for the monthly LIA Philippines board meeting. LIA Philippines President Greg Begafria said the pastors and missionaries were “eager and excited” about LIA Philippines. Following the meeting, a Pastors Prayer Vigil and Fellowship was held. Pastor Ciriaco Butalid preached a powerful message to begin the night as 28 pastors gathered to seek God together and pray for Love In Action. LIA President and Pastor Ken Tuck called and shared a short encouraging message on the phone.

Scholarships for children

Children at the Recognition service at Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Sindangan, Philippines. Click here for more photos.

In the Philippines, school is not guaranteed for every child, because not all families can afford to pay the government for their children to attend school. Many of the churches Love In Action supports in the Philippines have schools. The schools obviously benefit the children from an educational point of view, but it's also a great ministry tool for the church. Parents, friends and family members attend the Recognition services, and that's how many come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. For many, it's the first time they've ever heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Entire families get saved. Praise God!
The next school year begins in June, and Love In Action is conducting a scholarship drive for the children. We are asking if you can give $50, that would help support one child for the school year. And, a couple has committed to a $500 match. Which means, if you give $50, they will match that, so your gift doubles to $100. Please send any amount you can for the children's scholarships fund to: Love In Action International Ministries, PO Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. Please click here for more information.

King James Bible Project

Love In Action has an exciting opportunity to get the Bible in the hands of people who are hungry for the Word of God and very open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Please click here for more information and help us with this very important need. On March 7, we shipped 900 Bibles to the Philippines. Please help us to continue shipping Bibles there every month. Thousands of Bibles are needed.

1,300 saved and counting

Pastor Jun Begafria preaches to people in a previously unreached community in the Philippines.
This is the beginning of a new church plant in that community. Looks like we're off to a great start. Praise God!
Click here for a photo slideshow of more ministry taking place in the Philippines.

The move of God going on in the Philippines right now is amazing. God is certainly fanning the flames of revival. Within the past three weeks, more than 1,300 people have made decisions for Jesus Christ. Praise God! If that doesn't get you excited nothing will.
The news keeps getting better as we are about to help plant six churches in previously unreached areas. This is exciting and dangerous as these new church plants will occur in Muslim communities. And, it gets even better. This week, one of our pastors is visiting two other islands to survey the opportunities for church plants, and those islands are among those in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. For the safety of our pastor I am not releasing his name, but please keep him in your prayers. These are more previously unreached people. Many Muslims are coming to Christ in the Philippines as they hear for the first time the truth about Jesus.
Love In Action is able to plant churches and support indigenous pastors and ministers in the Philippines because some of our supporters have decided to give financially to these efforts. They have a heart to see the previously unreached, reached for Jesus Christ. If you have a desire to help us fulfill the Great Commission, please become a regular supporter of LIA Philippines. When you mail your donations, just note on the check that it is for LIA Philippines and your donation will go toward our work there. Please keep our Filipino brothers and sisters in your prayers as they work hard every day to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the Philippines. Please click here for more information about this exciting update from the Philippines.

UPDATE: Four new churches planted and 117 people saved! 92 more saved on a visit to Basilan. Praise God!

600 decisions for Jesus!

Pastor Jun Begafria preaches to soldiers at one of the military camps in the Philippines.

When Love In Action's Ken, Martha and Susie Tuck visited the Philippines in January, our friend, Pastor Jun Begafria took us to four military camps to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In those two days of visiting four camps, 93 soldiers and officers accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Since then, God has opened many, many more doors to reach the military for Jesus. This past week, Pastor Jun traveled and ministered in two training camps and 18 camps and 600 soldiers and officers made decisions for Jesus Christ. Praise God! Or, as they say it in their dialect of Cebuano, "Dalaygon ang Diyos!" Now, five more military camps have been open. Praise God! It is simply incredible the doors God is opening. And, it gets even better. Pastor Jun said God has opened doors in four Muslim communities to start four churches. Praise God! He said there are already four houses available to be used for Bible studies. Pastor Jun is one of the pastors that Love In Action supports. It's because of people who donate financially for LIA Philippines that we can give to help share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people who have never heard of Jesus. God is doing an incredible work in the Philippines, and we give Him all of the praise, honor and glory.

Philippines Mission trip:
127 accept Jesus Christ

Love In Action President/Pastor and Vice President Ken and Martha Tuck and LIA Board Member Susie "Mama" Tuck traveled to the Philippines, Jan. 20-27, 2012, to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was an amazing trip as 127 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They were guest speakers at the Shiloh Bible Baptist Church family of churches' first Pastor/Missionary Workers Conference. Indigenous missionaries from other churches attended as well. The conference was held in Sindangan, and 98 people attended. It was an incredible time of encouragement and teaching. While in Sindangan, Pastor Ken preached two Sunday services and an evangelistic service in which 10 people received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Then the LIA team traveled throughout four provinces on the island of Mindanao and preached the Gospel. They had the great honor of preaching and sharing their testimonies at four Phlippine Army camps, and 93 soldiers received Jesus as their Lord and Savior, including seven Muslims and a high-ranking Army official. Praise God! Dalaygon ang Diyos!
Love In Action has helped these pastors over the past year reach the lost in the Philippines, and following this trip, the support will be even greater. There are 65 million people in the Philippines who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they are so open to receiving the message of Jesus. These pastors and missionaries are doing an incredible work. Please keep them in your prayers and help us support them. More information will becoming within the next week about some of Love In Action's plans to reach the lost in the Philippines through these mighty men and women of God.

More opportunities in Philippines

A month ago Love In Action partnered with our friends at Homegrown Harvesters to help two churches in the Philippines with important needs to further spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the other side of the world. Now we have two more opportunities. The first is Shiloh Bible Baptist Church Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. Their church needs walls, ceilings and floors, and a parsonage. For only $2,200 these needs can be met. For more information, click here. Another need is for Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Punta, Dipolog City, Philippines. They are a growing church of more than 100. We helped them build an extension to their building, but they have already outgrown it. There is a large lot available that would allow them to continue growing and provide for future expansion. For more information on this need, click here.
When donating to help the churches in the Philippines, note on your financial gift that it is for the Philippines.
