Enterprise tornado update (4-1-07):

This 4-person team from the Birmingham, Ala. area brought a trailer-load of supplies and a financial donation this weekend. They were a great blessing, and the supplies and donation will help us continue helping those effected by the tornado. A lot of work has been accomplished, but there is still a long ways to go.

Love In Action team members (left to right) Susie Tuck, Brett Reid and Ken Tuck sort through and organize hygiene
supplies that have been donated to the ministry. Love In Action thanks everyone who has been praying for them and
donating supplies and finances to help with the disaster relief efforts in Enterprise. Please continue to pray
for the people of Enterprise as it is a long road to recovery. Also, please continue to pray for and donate to Love In
Action so we can continue our disaster relief efforts and our regular ministry to the homeless throughout the nation.
Thanks and God bless.

Update (3-24-07):
We had a team of 10 people today helping with disaster relief. The group did a wonderful job helping to sort through and organize all of the items that have been donated. This will make it easier to find the various items and deliver them to those in need. Then, LIA President Mike Shroades led the group of volunteers to the disaster area where they cleaned two yards, including an elderly man's yard. Then they served a number of elderly people in the neighborhood a delicious spaghetti dinner and handed out bottled water. They certainly enjoyed the dinner.

Update (3-19-07):
We had a team of 29 people this weekend helping with disaster relief. The volunteers came from Atlanta, Ga., Decatur, Ill., and Enterprise, Ala. The help and supplies were greatly appreciated.
We are still helping with the cleanup efforts, but we're also going into the second phase of our disaster relief efforts. We are going to focus on three areas - First Responders, Clergy and their families, and Teenagers. We have brought in a great brother in the Lord, Chaplain Steve Holden, to help us get these efforts started. He is the executive director of the United States Emergency Chaplains Corps. He has responded to many different kinds of disasters, including Hurricane Katrina and 9-11-01. Steve and LIA President Mike Shroades met with the mayor of Enterprise and the fire chief and police chief and they received permission to minister to the police officers and firefighters. They have been well received. Responding to a disaster like the March 1 tornado and seeing eight dead teenagers can be very traumatic, especially in a small community where everyone knows everyone. We are there for the First Responders.
On Tuesday, Mike will minister to the local clergy and their wives. The local clergy already had enough on their plates before the tornado hit. Now, they have even more to do and it's important that they be ministered to and provided a forum to talk about things so they won't get burned out. The city of Enterprise needs all of them now more than ever.
Thanks for all of your prayers and financial support. Please keep them both up. There is still much to be done here.

Update (3-14-07):

Two more yards cleaned of debris. Tarps put on two more houses. Helped clean the side of the road by
Hillcrest Elementary School, which was damaged by the tornado. Hygiene items received from churches
in Ozark, Ala.
Update (3-12-07):
Love In Action President Mike Shroades and Team Member Justin Swasey are leading our efforts in Enterprise.
They have led teams of volunteers from Enterprise, Ozark, Dothan and Brantley, Ala., and from North Carolina.
LIA has removed debris from around houses throughout Enterprise including the following communities:
Baptist Hill, College Street, North Rawls Street and Heath Street. There were 20 volunteers helping LIA this past weekend. We have fed more than 600 people and bought groceries for two families. We delivered candles to 20
families before their power was restored. Mike preached during an outdoor service this past Sunday evening.
LIA is planning more open-air services to minister to the needs of the people.
We're also focusing on long-term plans with emphasis on ministering to the clergy and their families, teenagers
and first-responders. A lot has been accomplished, but we still have a long ways to go.
Thanks for your continued prayers and support.
