Compassion Atlanta

The homeless in Atlanta were very thankful for their lunch on Saturday, Sept. 22. Love In Action
joined with Eagle's Nest Ministries to serve between 100-125 lunches. Hamburgers and hot dogs
were grilled and served with bakes beans and chips.

Pictured to the left, four homeless men enjoy lunch and fellowship, while Eagle's Nest Pastor Larry Arnold (pictured right) serves up lunch.

For the past six years, Love In Action has been ministering with Eagle's Nest throughout the inner city of Atlanta. Together, we have seen
God touch and change lives. During those years, Eagle's Nest has grown. Today they own property on Hilliard and Edgewood streets in
downtown Atlanta, just off Intestates 75/85. They have a great vision for renovating their 6,000-square foot building on Edgewood. Love
In Action encourages you to donate to the Eagle's Nest building fund. A church in Atlanta is matching each dollar given to the building fund,
so when you give it is instantly doubled. Mail your tax deductible donation to: Eagle's Nest, P.O. Box 89124, Atlanta, GA 30312.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, Love In Action joined with other volunteers to help Eagle's Nest clean up their back lot. It took chainsaws, rakes,
shovels, wheel barrows, a skid loader, strong backs and sweat. By the end of the day the lot was cleaned off and a huge dumpster
filled to overflowing with tree limbs and trash. Love In Action and Eagle's Nest were joined by other volunteers from throughout
the Atlanta area. An interesting and rewarding group of volunteers to see join together with all the others were the homeless. Eagle's Nest
is a haven in a dark and lonely world in which the homeless live. They respect Pastor Larry Arnold and Elder Harold Smith. They seemed
more than happy to do their part to improve the place that gives them so much. At Eagle's Nest they can shower, eat and learn the Word of
God. They can have their clothes washed and receive hygiene items.

On Sept. 22, they were giving back to Eagle's Nest and it was a blessing to see that. Love In Action will continue to work with Eagle's Nest to minister to the homeless. We will continue to provide them with hygiene items, clothing, food and other items they need. We have seen lives transformed over the years. The Eagle's Nest music minister once lived on the streets. His wife was also homeless. Now they are off the streets and have been off drugs and alcohol for more than two years. They work and are doing great. Another Eagle's Nest volunteer once lived on the streets and in crack houses. She has been clean for years and now has two jobs and God continues to restore her life. These are just a few examples, and that's what it's all about. Seeing lives changed by the miracle power of God through His Son.

Love In Action couldn't minister to the homeless without the prayers and financial support of people throughout the US Your prayers strengthen
us, and your financial support allows us to purchase hygiene items and other crucial supplies that help meet their physical needs and opens the door to
sharing Jesus Christ with the homeless. Thank you and may God continue to bless each one of you who supports us.

This homeless man was happy to receive a warm meal. He also worked hard in helping to clean up Eagle Nest's back lot.

Love In Action volunteers Martha Tuck, Jennifer and Jeremy Swasey grill hot dogs. About 100-125 lunches were served.

Heavy equipment was needed to help clean up the back lot at Eagle's Nest. An Atlanta businessman donated his time and machinery to help clean up the lot. Without his assistance, we wouldn't have been able to clear the entire lot on that Saturday. This will provide more space for the ministry to expand in the inner city of Atlanta.

This homeless man is a regular at Eagle's Nest. He worked most of the morning using a chainsaw to cut down large limbs from a tree that was growing onto the Eagle's Nest building on Edgewood Street. He said when he was younger he cut wood for a living. By the way he handled that chainsaw there was no doubt he had plenty of experience.

Volunteers cleared a fence that runs across the back of Eagle Nest Ministries' lot on Edgewood and Hilliard streets.

This large dumpster was empty when the clean-up day began. By the end of the day is was overflowing.

Love In Action volunteers and Great Day Community Church (Rome, Ga.) members Mickey Tuck, Travis Tuck, Savannah Tuck and Ricky Mills, pose for this photo with Joyce Hall (wearing an apron). Joyce is a walking miracle. She once lived on the streets of Atlanta and in crack houses, but now she is free from that lifestyle. Several years ago she gave her life to Jesus Christ, and ever since she has spent countless hours volunteering at Eagle's Nest, and now she works two jobs. God continues to bless Joyce and restore different areas of her life.
