The
Christmas service at Love In Action's Celebrate Recovery Inside on Dec. 20,
2011, was a wonderful time of giving thanks to God for His indescribable gift
of His Son, Jesus Christ. The presence of the Lord was so sweet as Pastor Dwight
Deal conducted the communion service as Rick Denney, Jonathan Ellis and Martha
Tuck served the Lord's Supper. Alan Watson did a great job of leading praise
and worship, then Love In Action President and Pastor Ken Tuck shared the message.
Three men walked to the altar to pray to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord
and Savior. Praise God!
Before the service, a delicious dinner was enjoyed by everyone. It was truly
a wonderful night.

Ecuador
Love In Action is spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of compassion in Ecuador and the Philippines by feeding hungry children in southern Philippines and supporting Casa de Fe orphanage in Shell, Ecuador. We are also providing training in Celebrate Recovery, and working with missionaries to help them reach the lost. Soon we will provide for medical needs in both countries. Future plans also include church planting to reach the lost in strategic areas in these countries. Click here for more on Mission Ecuador. |

A very happy Thanksgiving
Volunteers served around 300 plates of delicious food, and one woman accepted
Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during Love In Action's Thanksgiving Day
outreach in Dothan, Ala. The homeless and needy enjoyed the meal and fellowship
at the Love In Action Ministry Center, and volunteers also took lunch plates
to the needy in an impoverished neighborhood. It was a wonderful day.

Love In Action's Adopt-A-Block is making a difference in the downtown neighborhood by serving the people. Picture above, Ronnie and other volunteers are raking the yard of a house where nine foster children live. Volunteers have raked yards, cleaned houses, repaired roofs and other house repairs, delivered food and blankets. Each week volunteers pick up trash throughout the neighborhood. On Christmas Eve, volunteers delivered toys and candy to children and handmade scarves and hats to adults. Volunteers also delivered food, such as ham, turkey, bread, and canned items. This weekly outreach is making a huge difference in the lives of people living in the neighborhood, and some of the people are beginning to attend Celebrate Recovery Inside, Bible study and the Lighthouse Cafe coffee house at Love In Action.

Love In Action's Adopt-A-Block
outreach is already making a big difference in the neighborhood. People in most
impoverished neighborhoods feel forgotten and end up losing pride in their neighborhoods.
Adopt-A-Block is bringing the love of Jesus to the neighborhood and restoring
hope to the needy. We have already seen one person accept Jesus as her Lord
and Savior, and another one tell one of our volunteers he wanted to know more
about Jesus.
In the photos above, Steven, Josh and Jamie repair backdoor steps, Jamie repairs
a toilet, and Justin stuffs the trash that was picked up throughout the neighborhood
into Love In Action's dumpster.

Love In Action kicked off its Adopt-A-Block outreach on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. Through this outreach, Love In Action is serving an impoverished neighborhood around its ministry center. Through acts of compassion, Love In Action is showing the love of Jesus Christ to the people. On Nov. 19, volunteers picked up a large amount of trash from throughout the neighborhood. Volunteers also raked the yard of an elderly man, and people were prayed for. It was a great start to Adopt-A-Block.
The streets highlighted and those inside that area are the streets where we
are conducting Adopt-A-Block in downtown Dothan.

Love In Action's Health
Clinic for the Homeless celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 6 at the Love
In Action Ministry Center.
The free clinic meets the basic health care needs of the homeless and Houston
County Community Corrections Work Release
inmates. Eye care will be available next week, and in the near future there
will be dental care. Dr. H.L. "Chief" Lassiter was our
volunteer doctor on the first night, and Dr. Steve Stokes grilled hamburgers
for the event. Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz attended the
grand opening as did Gary Knight, who is the director of Houston County Community
Corrections work release. A number of volunteers
came too and did a great job as usual.
The clinic opens at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday.

The shower
at the Love In Action Ministry Center is completely installed and working. The
Shower Ministry began Saturday, Oct. 8, and four men enjoyed the hot shower
to get clean. We praise God that we can help meet this physical need. With the
Shower and Laundry ministries both up and running, we can wash clothes and provide
a hot shower. By meeting physical needs, Love In Action spreads the Gospel of
Jesus Christ through acts of compassion.

The Love
In Action Lighthouse Cafe coffee house opened Friday night, Oct. 7. It was a
great night as the homeless and young and old from the community came to enjoy
coffee, food, board games, music and fellowship. Pictured above to the left,
everyone loves baby Destiny. Her mother, Tiffany, is in the background. This
family lives next door to the Love In Action Ministry Center, which gives Love
In Action a great opportunity to help and minister to them. In the photo to

We held our first Celebrate Recovery Inside at the new Love In Action Ministry Center on Sept. 20, 2011. It was a "light opening" for the Houston County Community Corrections Work Release inmates. We love these men and women and wanted to hold the first CRI for them. It also gave us the opportunity to see what works and what doesn't, so we can adjust for our big CRI grand opening on Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. It was a great night with a lot of wonderful ministry taking place. Everyone agreed that it was good to be back home. This was our first CRI at Love In Action since December. We want to thank Pastor David Willis and Highland Park United Methodist Church for allowing us to use their facilities while we were renovating our new building.

Many upcoming ministry opportunities

Wonderful Wednesdays
Wednesday night Bible studies
at the Love In Action Ministry Center are absolutely wonderful. Disciples are
being made as the hunger for God's Word grows even stronger among those attending.
The discussion that takes place is incredible. In addition to the great time
of studying God's Word, we have delicious dinners and fun fellowship. Thank
God for Wednesday nights and everyone who attends.

God
is doing a great work in the Philippines and Love In Action is honored
to be part of it. We have joined with Homegrown
Harvesters to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Philippines
by supporting local missionary churches. The group of churches we are
connected with is called Shiloh Bible Baptist Churches, and they are
located in different parts of the Philippines. These pastors have huge
hearts for reaching the lost in their own country. They have very few
resources, but that doesn't dampen their spirits or discourage them
from leading the lost to Jesus. There are a variety of ways we can help
in the Philippines. One is providing Bibles and Christian tracts. Another
is helping them purchase land and build churches, which costs a whole
lot less than here in the U.S. And thirdly, through supporting the pastors.
These men and their families put everything on the line for the Gospel
of Jesus Christ. |
Love In Action received another
answer to prayer on Thursday, July 7, when Newton Baptist Church donated a 15-passenger
van to the ministry. This is a tremendous blessing. Often times we have to make
multiple trips to pick people up for Wednesday night Bible study and other events.
Now, we will be able to pick everyone up at the same time. We praise God and
thank the good people at Newton Baptist Church for this wonderful blessing.

We used our new van for the
first time on Saturday, July 9, when Ken picked up 10 men from Houston County
Work Release for our weekly work day at the Love In Action Ministry Center.
These men have done a tremendous amount of work on the renovations.
Pastor Ralph
Sigler of Harvest Church
in Dothan, AL, interviewed Love In Action President Ken Tuck during both worship
services on Sunday, June 5, 2011. They talked about what God is doing through
Love In Action and the needs of the ministry. We thank Pastor Ralph for this
wonderful opportunity. Click on the video above to watch the interview.

Every Tuesday night the Love In Action Health Care Clinic for the homeless helps the homeless and Houston County Community Corrections work release inmates with free quality health care. Another important aspect of this outreach is serving food to those coming to the clinic. Pictured above, volunteers from a Sunday school class at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan prepared and served dinner at the clinic on May 17 as they do every third Tuesday night of each month. They are such a blessing. And on this night, they even sang happy birthday to the man pictured in the photo on the left. How wonderful. That meant a lot to Stephen.
'He
heals the brokenhearted'
There are so many hurting homeless people whose dreams have faded away long
ago, but their dreams can be restored through the saving grace of Jesus Christ
and the restoration power of God.

We are excited about holding our Wednesday night Bible study again. Wednesday, Feb. 9, was the first service in our new Love In Action Ministry Center. Everyone was excited about having our weekly Bible study again. The top picture to the left is Mama Tuck pouring ice tea for the guys. She cooks a delicious meal each Wednesday night. The bottom picture is the first group to attend a service at the new facility.
The last time we had Bible study was Dec. 22, because we had to move out of our previous building. We didn't have a place to meet until we purchased our new facility. Then we had to get a room cleaned and ready. One of the guys said, "It's been a long two months."
We were all excited to be together again. Praise God we are having Wednesday night Bible study again.

The Love
In Action Board of Directors joined Ken and Martha Tuck on Saturday, Jan. 29,
to pray and dedicate the new Love In Action Ministry Center. It was a powerful
time of prayer, then the board started setting priorities on what parts of the
building to renovate first. Pictured above to the left are LIA president and
vice president Ken and Martha Tuck standing outside of the new LIA Ministry
Center at 320 N. Foster St. in downtown Dothan. Pictured above to the right
are Ken and LIA board member Dwight Deal giving God all the glory just like
the words on the wall in the sanctuary says to do.
A true miracle
Rick Denney is a true miracle. Six months ago he
was crushed by a train. Today, he is living on his own again. He is a life changed
by the grace
and mercy of God. Now, God works through him to touch lives. We praise God for
Rick. Click

Homeless Health Care Clinic continues
to grow
The Love In Action Health Care Clinic for the homeless continues to grow in
its first month. In December we saw 23 patients. This Tuesday night (Jan. 4)
we had 14. Praise God for this awesome opportunity to show the homeless the
love of God through meeting a very important need.
