2005 Atlanta Christmas Outreach

Christmas 2005 was indeed a joyous occassion as Love In Action ministered the love of Jesus Christ to the homeless in Atlanta and families in Mississippi who lost everything during Hurricane Katrina. Above, 29 homeless men and women in Atlanta respond to the message preached by LIA Vice President Ken Tuck. The LIA team fed 100 homeless people a Christmas dinner consisting of ham, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, rolls, fruit and pie. The team also handed out gifts of hygiene items, blankets and coats. LIA delivered hygiene items for 350 homeless people in Atlanta. LIA also provided hygiene items for the homeless in Dothan, Alabama, and shipped dozens of pairs of socks to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the homeless.
LIA President Mike Shroades and a team of volunteers delivered hundreds of shoebox gifts to families in Mississippi who had been devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The families were very thankful for the gifts.
LIA also provided Christmas gifts for needy children in Enterprise and Dothan, Alabama.
Thanks to your generosity and prayer support all of this was made possible.

Love In Action volunteer team members Jennifer Thompson and Jeremy Swasey hand out hygiene items to the homeless.

Annie Smith (far right in green jacket) helps hand out hygiene items. Annie once lived on the streets of Atlanta, but is now off the streets, married and faithfully serving at Eagle's Nest Church, which is Love In Action's ministry partner in Atlanta.

Calvin Smith (left) is the husband of Annie (pictured above). Calvin was once homeless and hopeless on the streets of Atlanta. Love In Action and Eagle's Nest ministered to him for more than four years. Once Calvin gave his heart to Jesus and got serious about living for Jesus, God has transformed his life. Calvin is off the streets, married, working full-time, and is now the worship leader at Eagle's Nest. Calvin and Annie are both walking miracles and examples of what God can do. It's stories like their's that makes all the hard ministry work worthwhile. The homeless man pictured with Calvin calls Calvin his "hero." The homeless can see the changes in Calvin's and Annie's lives and they are making a great impact for the kingdom of God in Atlanta.
